KHBC History

In March 2003 Hilo Broadcasting Company, LLC owner Buddy Gordon announced the return of KHBC, Hilo's original radio station.

KHBC - Hilo's original radio station made its original on-air debut on May 1st, 1936. The transmitter tower carried them music of Hawai'i from it site on Hawaiian Homelands in Keaukaha, where the original foundation blocks still exist today. Vicki I'i Rodrigues composed the song "KHBC Hula" to pay tribute to the first radio station here in Hilo - the hula capital of the world.
