KHBC Lineup

KHBC brings the very best music – a wide range of Hawaiian classic, nostalgic and contemporary music, plus adult rock oldies, country and paniolo and music of today. And through the day KHBC features Hawaii, national and world news and Na Hanana – Happenings on Hawaii Island – a listing of community events.

  Weekdays:  
5 to 6 am
Sounds of the Orient – Hawai’i Island’s only Japanese language and music program with hosts Hiromichi Moriya and Taka Niimi  
6 to 10am Mel “Mynah Bird” Medeiros, featuring Buy, Sell & Trade on the “Trading Post”, the Police Blotter, community interviews, talk story and music favorites of Hawaii  
10 am to 2 pm Iaukea Bright, hosts Mid Day on KHBC with his unique wit and wisdom, featuring Hawaiian music, oldies and adult contemporary music, plus “Bright” thoughts and humor  
2 to 6 pm Pohai Montague-Mullins, keeps you company with Ho’i I ka Hale (taking you home) with music, entertainment news and music history, her Hawaiian word of the hour, contests and lots of laughs  
6 to Midnight

Brad Freeman hosts KHBC Nighttimes with pop, rock, Hawaiian, jazz and blues

 
Saturdays
 
5 to 6 am
Hiromichi Moriya hosts Sounds of the Orient
 
6am to Noon The Mynah Bird Show – Saturday edition with Mel’s regular features:

Trading Post, Police Blotter, and some mellow “back porch” music for a more relaxed Saturday

Noon to 2pm Aunty Pualani’s Plate Lunch Pa’ina – with ‘onolicious music and recipes  

2 to 6pm

Captain Craig Kamahele pilots the airwaves on the Kanaka Starship with a calabash of music, call-ins, dedications and his “Akamai Person of the Hour” contest  

6 to Midnight

Thor and Music for a Change with the latest in rock jazz and blues  
 
Sundays
 
6 to 7 am Hiromichi Moriya or Moriyasan, hosts Sounds of the Orient, Japanese music, conversation and information  
7am to Noon Pohai, Iaukea and Brad host Pu’uolo Paniolo – five hours of the best of the West Country, cowboy and Paniolo music  
6 to Midnight Thor and Music for a Change with the latest in rock jazz and blues
